‘When we lose our ability to make things with our hands we lose part of our humanness’
Judith Mackenzie
Do you find the pace and timbre of life fast and ungrounded ?
Do thoughts, daily obligations, anxieties and the 24/7 onslaught of information scatter and fragment your sense of cohesion and connection with life?
Does the concept of life being lived as a prayer, as a devotion or as a sacred ritual seem remote and far from your current reality?
Do you find yourself longing for time to rewind the centuries to a slower simpler time when women sat around the hearth, together, weaving and spinning, making with their hands ?
Then you’re in the right place.
Welcome to Hearthwomen
A place where mindful engagement with ancient crafts exists not only to produce beautiful objects, but to foster a reawakening of the ancient remembering of who we are and what we are meant for .
The slow, soothing practices of making with others brings science backed healing to the nervous system, through regulation from the ‘bottom up’ where the body informs the brain, rather than the other way round.
We will be focussing less on the performative, output driven crafting of our capitalist conditioning, and more on the ritualistic inner journey of healing through making.
A place where we re-engage with prayerful, practical rituals that reconnect us with the realisation that making and crafting can be agents of ceremony and transformation.
‘Spinning is a cosmic gesture of creation…an activity that brings us closer to the divine and at the same time allows us to experience beauty and utility.’
Melanie Falick. Making a Life
We will gather as women have always done, to craft, share heart secrets andThere is a special alchemy forged when women sit in circle which had spun its magic through the centuries.
We not only become mirrors for each other but collectively weave a unique healing and transformation when we gather as sisters to create and connect.
The nervous system reset, without the hours of therapy.
A panacea for the daily frazzle.
An ability to ripple healing outwards from the inner rebalance that occurs.
A healing for ourselves and families, communities and troubled world.
A deeper somatic understanding of the inner alchemy of our bodies and souls.
